Food security snapshot

Maize production in 2021 has been expected to hit at bumper level. However, there is a concern due to locust infestations. Cereals imports remain high in 2020/21 and are estimated above the five-year average. Prices of Maize are lower year on year which is a reflection of oversupply. There still is a high prevalence of food insecurity in early 2021 amid the economic downturn associated with the Covid Pandemic.
